Tag Topper Birthday

Here’s another way to use your Scalloped Tag Topper!

Tag Topper Birthday

I really like the way this card turned out…I think I’ll be using this layout many times.  I know what you are thinking…here she goes again with the Petite Petals.  Sorry…I can’t help it.  They are sooooo cute and they match my blog top banner.  I gently sponged the edges of the tag just to soften the white.

Stamp Sets:  Perfectly Penned (122892), Petite Petals (133155)

Ink:  Marina Mist (126962), Daffodil Delight (126944)

Tag Topper With a Window

Hi Stampers!

This is just a quick little tag that can stand alone or be incorporated into a card.  I’d like to thank a UK fellow demo for the idea…Sam Donald.

Tag Topper with Window

Start with a piece of cardstock 2″ x 8″ (Note:  You can make the length as long or short as you like)

Use DSP scraps to punch out the flowers and background for window flower.

Fold the cardstock in half, burnish and using the Scalloped Tag Topper, punch each end.

Using your Petite Petals Punch – slide it in across the side as far as it will go (near the bottom) and punch.  While you have the punch go ahead and punch out 3 flowers from your scraps of DSP.

Use the edges of your Stampin’ Dimensionals sheet and put around the punched out flower.  Put a scrap of DSP on the opposite side of the window.

Run SNAIL along the edges of the back but NOT on the DSP.  Pull the paper off your Stampin’ Dimensionals and close matching the tag toppers.

Round the bottom corners and sponge the edges.

Push the round end of your paper piercer into each flower and then use glue dots to put in place.  Embellish each flower with a Candy Dot, Pearl or Rhinestone.  Slip ribbon through the top hole and you are finished!

These are just so cute and easy…enjoy!

Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge

This week’s sketch challenge hit me as being very simple and clean.  I also needed to create a masculine birthday card for a very dear friend…so here is what I came up with.

PPA sketch

PPA 192.2

I used the Gorgeous Grunge for background (Gumball Green ink on Gumball Green paper) and I think I have found another favorite stamp!  I’m also pretty fond of the new Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  I have found so many ways to use it.  In fact, we will be making a tag topper card in class on Saturday.  I’ll post it on Sunday.

Here’s a close up of the greeting…

PPA 192.3

Isn’t this a great greeting?  I think it says it all!

Following the tag format on the front I decided to use this for the inside sentiment…

PPA 192.4

This is so true of my friend.  We will celebrate his birthday for a matter of minutes while flying from LAX to Sydney, Australia.  He basically will miss his special day due to the time change.  😦

Here is a list of the materials used to make this card:

Stamp Sets:  Delightful Dozen (122652), Gorgeous Grunge (130517)

Ink:  Calypso Coral (126983), Gumball Green (126861)

Paper:  Crumb Cake (120953), Gumball Green (126840, Very Vanilla (101650), Epic Day This and That DSP (130814)

Accessories:  Scalloped Tag Topper Punch (133324), Gumball Green Satin Stitched Ribbon (126848), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430)

Have a great day and Happy Stamping!

Birthday Slide Pocket Card

My mother in law is celebrating her 95th birthday on Sunday so I wanted to make her an extra special card.

Birthday Slide Out 2

From the first view all you see is the flower…then pull the pockets apart and…

Birthday Slide Out 3

This is so cute!  She will love it!

To make this card you need:

2 pieces of cardstock 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ then fold each in half.  These become the two side pockets.  Use Sticky Strip on the two edges next to the folded side.  You can see that I also do a half circle punch for ease in taking in and out.

1 piece of cardstock 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″  This becomes the insert.

Decorate as you like.  My flower is made from three Blossom Punch flowers that I worked with the bone folder to split each into two pieces to make a suede like texture.  They flatten for mailing and can easily be poofed up.

If you have any questions just leave a comment and I’ll get back to you.

Spring Brightness – Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge 191

This week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge palette is:

PPA 191 Colors

This palette proved to be a very good challenge for me since it took me out of my comfort zone completely.  Here’s what I came up with…hope you like it!

PPA 191 Challenge

If you have followed my blog for any length of time you know I love the Stampin’ Up! flower punches and I’m kind of hooked on polka dots.  I kept the design simple and stayed with the 3 colors in the palette.

PPA 191 Challenge Close Up

From this close up you can see that I gave the Blossom and Pansy Punches some depth by stamping the large flower from Peaceful Petals and I also used some sponging.  I used the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder (a FREE SAB choice) to jazz up the Gumball Green border a bit.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies used:

Stamp Sets:  Peaceful Petals (133107), Express Yourself (Hostess 130339)

Ink:  Pumpkin Pie (126945), Gumball Green (126861)

Paper:  Whisper White (100730), Gumball Green (126840), Pumpkin Pie (105117)

Accessories:  Blossom Punch (125603), Pansy Punch (130698), Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Set (118309), Petite Petals Punch (133322), Decorative Dots Embossing Folder (133520), Rhinestone Basic Jewels (119246)

Check out what some of the other Pals have created with this palette here.

This is my first time in the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge.  Hope you enjoy mine and others.  The colors we were challenged to use together were Blushing Bride, Rose Red and Basic Gray.

I’m really into watercoloring these days so I used this technique on the flowers and kept the whole card clean and not fussy.

Here’s a close up of the large flower:
