Painter’s Tape Water Color

This is card #5 and the last card I have to share from my Water Color Technique Class.

Masking Tape Background 1

This background is so cool. You use Painter’s Tape and actually lay and press on your stamp pad, then place it on your Whisper White Paper. My tape was only 1″ wide so you see the lines where I had to print twice (gives it even more interest). Maybe next time I’ll try wider tape. I used Marina Mist, Pool Party and Soft Sky on the Whisper White and tone on tone of Marina Mist for the card. The background stamp is from Flowering Flourishes and the center flower is from the Butterfly Basics SS.

Masking Tape Background 2

This is the inside with the same design from Flowering Flourishes SS.

This is really a unique way to make a background – it has texture as well as interest. Try it if you haven’t already. This is not new so many of you may have already tried it. 🙂

Happy Stamping!

Another Clear Block Wash Card

Here’s #4 from my Water Color Class.

Clear Block Wash, Lovely As A Tree 1

Same procedure as card #3 but I layered this one on Whisper White. This is again…Lovely As A Tree SS. I just felt like the foreground needed something and I didn’t want more white so I tried the Very Vanilla lace. I think the one black brad is too heavy and should have used 3 black Candy Dots. Not sure, what do you think? I’m very happy with the way the background turned out on the left. One thing about this technique is you never know exactly how it will turn out. That’s the fun of it!

Clear Block Wash, Lovely As A Tree 2

I think I will always love Island Indigo so here it is again with it’s matching envelope liner.

Please try these different techniques…they are fun and add to your card creations.

One more card in this series of Water Color Techniques to come.

Happy Stamping!

Watercolor Technique – Clear Block Wash

Card #3 today from my Watercolor Technique Class.

Clear Block Wash Wonderland 1

With this technique you use your Stampin’ Write Markers and Whisper White Cardstock. I used Island Indigo, Pool Party and Soft Sky as my color combo. I just colored across the E block with strips of each color. I then spritzed the block with my Stampin’ Spritzer. Don’t leave it too dry or you won’t get the blending. Press the block onto the Whisper White CS and hold. You need to let the watercolor soak in since this isn’t Watercolor Paper

Clear Block Wash Wonderland 2

I used the NEW Wonderland Stamp Set to make the snowflakes (used Whisper White Craft Stamp Pad), Pine Cone sprigs (Island Indigo) and Lovely As A Tree SS (I must admit…I LOVE this set!) for the tree.

If you don’t like the white around the edges, use smaller paper than the size of the E block. Personally, I think it makes it look more like a true watercolor with the white edges here and there.

Hope you try this technique and let me know how it went…or better yet, send me a photo of your work.

Watercolor Technique – Stamp Wash

Here’s #2 of the cards and techniques I did in my Watercolor Techniques Class. I got this idea from a fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Patty Bennett.

Stamp Wash 1

You use watercolor paper, spritz it with the Stampin’ Spritzer (both sides if you don’t want it to curl). Ink the Watercolor Wash Stamp Set. First stamp with the lighter color (in this case Daffodil Delight) then use your second color in two or three areas (Watermelon Wonder). Spritz the inked stamp and then stamp onto the watercolor paper. If it’s runny, that’s OK, just let it drip because when it dries it blends itself.

Stamp Wash 2

With an envelope liner the set is complete. I’m using my retired DSP for liners…good way to use them up.

Now check out the centers of the flowers…I used dots of Dazzling Details.

Stamp Wash 3

To color the flowers and leaves I used the Stampin’ Write Markers and Aqua Painter.

This card was so much fun to make. I know I’ll use this technique many times. I’ve always loved to watercolor and got away from it for a time…now I’m back to it and loving it! Try this technique on your own and let me know how you like it.

Four Square Christmas

Four Square Christmas 1

Love this new set, Lots of Joy, from the annual catalog. The background was a piece left over from the Tin of Cards set. This card says it all.

Here’s the inside sentiment. This is from the very new stamp set, Versatile Christmas. You’ll find that in the new Holiday Catalog. You’ll be able to order on September 1. If you didn’t receive a Holiday Catalog it will be live on this site on September 1, 2015. It is really the BEST Holiday Catalog I have seen. I want almost everything! As a demonstrator I was able to pre-order so that I can show you some Sneak Peeks.

Four Square Christmas 2

Coming soon…a look at the cards we made in the Watercolor Technique class.

Another Sneak Peek and Pals Paper Arts

PPA 264.1

This is a new stamp set (Wonderland) and vellum paper (Winter Wonderland Vellum DSP) in the Holiday Catalog going live on Sept. 1! If you haven’t already received your catalog in the mail, give me a call so that I can get one to you. As you can see, I embossed the trees in gold. I love these trees!

Unfortunately this card is so much prettier than the photo displays.

PPA 264.2 Ribbon

I also stamped the ribbon in gold. The sentiment is also from the Wonderland set.

PPA 264.3 inside

I also embossed the sentiment inside with gold. It also came from the Wonderland Stamp Set.

I’m very anxious for everyone to see this new Holiday Catalog…I think it’s the best Stampin’ Up! has printed. I want almost everything in it myself.

Enjoy…Happy Stamping!

Anniversary Card

My daughter and son in law celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary yesterday but my husband and I celebrated with her and the grandchildren since her husband is deployed with the Marines. Only once has he been home for their anniversary – the life of the military!

I made this special card for them.

T Anniversary 1

I did use some retired products because there are some I just can’t part with!T Anniversary 2

Sneak Peek…lovin’ these two items!

I’m delighted that Stampin’ Up! has brought out the Square Pillow Box Thinlits Dies in the new Holiday Catalog. (By the way…it will go “live” on Sept. 1 and you’ll be able to see it on my blog.)

Thanksgiving Pillow Box

And it is topped off with the NEW Festive Flower Builder Punch. I decided to make some different flowers before I get into the Poinsettias.

Yellow flower

There are sooo many GREAT items in the new Holiday Catalog. I can’t wait for you to get your hands on it.

There will be more Sneak Peeks to come. Stay tuned!

Sweetbriar Rose for Pals Paper Arts

PPA 263 color palette

This was the color palette for this week’s Pals Paper Arts Challenge. The reason why I love doing these challenges is because they often take me way out of my comfort zone. I probably would never have put these three colors together but look what I came up with…

PPA 263.1

This is one of the cards we will use for our next class using watercolors. The photo does not do it justice unfortunately.

Open the first layer…

PPA 263.2

Then open the inside flap to find your sentiment…

Flower Medallion

Flower Medallion 1

This card was created with some inspiration from Connie Stewart. I am very happy with the end result. This isn’t a difficult or complicated card to make but it does have a touch of elegance…maybe that adorable border on the side with a sparkle of Dazzling Details.
