Creative Floral Slider Card

I found this very creative slider card & measurements on Julie Davison’s blog and knew I had to make this basic card with my own colors and design. We also made this card in our August class. The creativity of the attendees was fantastic. Each participant made two cards of this design and each one was unique.

Here is the card I showed them:

Floral Slider Card

And when you pull the little Pear Pizazz peeking out at the bottom this is what you see…

Floral Slider Card 2

Isn’t this the cutest card? I see this format being used A LOT with different colors and designs.

I imagine you would like the directions…so here you go:

Cardstock:

Color #1 (BASE)                    5 ½” x 8 ½”

Score at 4” and 8”

In ¾” from score lines, cut two slits from ¾” to 4 ¾” in the center panel.

Color #2 (Slider)                  3 ¾” x 4 ¾”

On the 4 ¾” side, cut at 2” almost all the way down.

Color #3 (Message)            2 3/8” x 4”

  1. Stamp the front side of the card base (or…use DSP)
  2. Stamp the message – top & bottom
  3. Glue the message in place
  4. Punch with circle punch on bottom of base
  5. Put slider over message through the slits and tape together on back (be sure the slider still moves)
  6. Decorate the part of the slider that shows

Products I used to decorate:

Cardstock – Lost Lagoon, Pear Pizzaz, Pink Pirouette, Pool Party & Whisper White

Ink – Lost Lagoon

Punches – 1 3/4 Scallop Circle, 3/4 Circle, Itty Bitty Accents

Embellishments – Rhinestone Basic Jewels

Happy Stamping!

I chose the Flowery Daydream bundle to make this card.  We also made this in my August Stamp Class.

Daydream Med Bundle 1

This shows the front as well as a peek at the inside.  I made this one flat but encouraged my class attendees to experiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals and make the medallion “pop”.  They did and the cards looked great.

Daydream Med Bundle 2

Here is a close-up of the front only. Of course, we had to add a touch of bling with the large rhinestone in the center.  🙂

Daydream Med Bundle 3

This is a close up shot of the inside…we couldn’t just leave it plain you know.  There were many different designs done by class attendees that were just outstanding.  This card is easy to CASE and can be “jazzed up” in so many ways.  I have found that this particular bundle has so many variations.

The Stampin’ Up! products used:  Flowery Daydream Bundle Clear SS, Hey You CLear SS, Mosaic Madness SS, Whisper White CS,  Blackberry Bliss CS,  Blackberry Bliss Stamp Pad and a large Rhinestone.

Happy Stamping!

Note Pad Cover – part 2

Yesterday I posted the measurements for making these adorable Note Pad Covers so if you are looking for the “how to” then scroll back to yesterday’s post.

I promised I’d give more details today so here you go:

Note Pad Cover

This is the cover of the sample I used for our Pals Event.

Note Pad Inside

Here is a photo of the inside.  Notice there is a little pocket on the left for cards, notes, etc.  This is a fun project and would make a great little gift.  I’m also planning on selling these at a craft fair.  The Pals really liked this project and each one put their own little twist to the design as I’m sure you will do.

Here are the Stampin’ Up! supplies I used:

I also used one retired punch because it was just perfect for the little bitty circle flower – Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack

Have fun making these great note pad covers!

Happy Stamping!

San Diego Pals Stamp, Chat & Snack Day!

Eleven of the Pals met today at a beautiful club house for a great day of stamping, chatting and eating. Linda Foster, Peggy Noe, Shannon Jaramillo and I each had a project for all participants to make. This is my project. I am using a photo of the one Mary Fish made since it is too dark now for me to take a good photo of mine and several Pals want the directions on how to make the Note Pad Cover. I got the measurements from Brandy Cox and I wrote up all the directions and created my own design.

Note Pad Cover with flourish

I’ll try to get some other photos of my version tomorrow so you can see different angles. There is a pocket on the inside left you can’t see.

Here are the directions:

Cover for 5” by 8” Note Pad

1. Start with piece of cardstock (CS) 8 ½” by 11”  Score on 11” side at 5 ¼” and 5 ¾”

2. Fold on the score lines and your outer cover is done.

3. To make the pocket:

Use a 4 ¾” by 6 ½” piece of matching CS.  Score on the 6 ½” side at ½”   ¾”     5 ¾” and 6”

Turn one quarter and score at ½” and ¾”

Burnish score lines and cut the square formed in each corner of the bottom.

Use Sticky Strip or Multipurpose Liquid Glue (MLG) on the bottom of each side fold and fold bottom up to glue in place.

Put Sticky Strip or MLG around the three edges and stick to the inside left of the cover at the bottom.

4. The binding cover (over the top of the note pad) is made from the same CS cut to 2” by 5” and score on the 2” side at 1” and 1 ¼”

5. Use a lot of MLG on the back of the note pad and stick it to the right inside of the cover.

6. Decorate the front, pocket and binding as you like.

Tomorrow I’ll include all the products used so check your email tomorrow.

Happy Stamping!

Pals August Blog Hop

Aug Blog Hop logo

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for August. This month we are showing off our favorite crafting tools – those Stampin’ Up! tools that we just can’t live without. We hope you enjoy our projects!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Kim Jolley #30 on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

Since I love Heat Embossing my favorite tools are the Heat Tool, Embossing  Buddy and of course, Embossing Powders. Everything stamped on this card was embossed except for the sponging around the edges of the little flowers. By the way, don’t those little flowers look like peppermint candies?

Embossed Flowering Flourishes 1

The “Wish Big” and little flowers were done in Real Red and since we don’t have Real Red Embossing Powder I used the actual stamp pad and quickly sprinkled Clear Embossing Powder over it then heated it.

Embossed Flowering Flourishes 2

To get the embossing around the Curly Label I smudged the Versa Mark pad around the edges and then dipped the edges into the Black Embossing Powder. It was a bit tricky and you can see that I have some stray grains of embossing powder but I kind of like the little specs of black.

Embossed Flowering Flourishes Close Up

In this close up you can see the shimmer of the heated embossing powder. I really like that look.

The next stop is Katy McGloin #32 on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting and  I hope to see you next month.
