Touches of Texture Sympathy Card

Hello my dear Stampers! Hope you are having a wonderful day. Every day I can make cards is a great day for me.

Do you find stamping and creating as peaceful and relaxing as I do? If so, be sure to make time in your hectic schedule to create! When I first started as a Stampin’ Up! demo I spent at least one afternoon a week in my craft room. Now, after almost five years as a demo…I spend some time every day in that room. My husband now expects me to be in “my space” every evening after dinner and part of each afternoon.

With the new catalog making it’s debut there are soooo many new ideas that I MUST try. But first…I have another CASE from Mary Fish. What can I say…when I see it and I love it I have to make it.

Once again a nice clean design. I used Whisper White for the base card and Pink Pirouette for color. I repeated the image on the envelope. I really like to decorate my envelopes and sometimes use a colorful insert on the flap.

I used the Scoring Tool to make the “lines” on each side of the base. That is Old Olive ribbon from the past. It’s too pretty not to use.

Card Measurements:

Whisper White – Base, 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″; 2 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ for image piece; Inside – 3 3/4″ x 5″

Pink Pirouette – 3″ x 5″; Inside – 4″ x 5 1/4″

I carried the lovely little flower onto the inside with the touching sentiment.

The front panel of Whisper White and Pink Pirouette was popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Don’t you agree this is a lovely clean card that says so much?

Stampin’ Up! Products Used:

Stamp Sets – Touches of Texture, Flourishing Phrases

Ink – Memento Tuxedo Black

Paper – Whisper White, Pink Pirouette

Accessories – Scoring Tool, Pink Pirouette & Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Markers, Old Olive Ribbon

I know if I received this card I would feel that the sender really cares and knowing it was made with love makes it all the more special.

Remember…an email or text just isn’t the same as a hand stamped card. If I can be of assistance in helping you make a card like this just email or call me. I’d love to help you create!

Happy Stamping!

Simple Sympathy Card

Hello Stampers! As much as we hate to think about making Sympathy cards – they are a necessity. I have two Sympathy cards to share with you. I’ll show you a quick but oh, so tasteful card today and another one in my next post. I was inspired by Alene Humphrey for this card. I always like to give credit where due.

This is done with a Whisper White base card, another Whisper White popped up piece, a Black layer, and a Whisper White piece that has been dry embossed with the Floral Affection Embossing Folder.

The little butterflies were punched out of Silver Glitter Paper using the Bitty Butterfly Punch and popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals . The sentiment came from the stamp set Better Together.

The inside sentiment was from the same stamp set, Better Together, and that beautiful butterfly was from the die in Bold Butterfly Thinlits in Silver Glitter paper again.

The measurements:

Whisper White – Base card 5 1/2″  x 8 1/2″ folded at 4 1/4″; 4″ x 5 1/4″; 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″

Black – 3 3/4″ x 5″

Stampin’ Up! Products Used:

Stamp Set – Better Together

Ink – Memento Tuxedo Black

Paper – Whisper White, Black, Silver Glitter

Accessories – Floral Affection Embossing Folder, Bold Butterfly Thinlits, Bitty Butterfly Punch

I always think of butterflies when I think of sympathy cards because here in San Diego one of our Hospice groups does a butterfly release each year to represent those loved ones who have passed. Both my father and mother in law were cared for by those fantastic nurses.

I do hope you enjoyed seeing this card. I just realized that both Bitty Butterfly Punch and Floral Affection Embossing Folder have retired on May 31. If you would like either…contact me and I will see if I can get them for you from other demos in our group. I have had 100% success so far. These transition periods always catch me because I really like some that have retired and hate to part with them. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Be back soon…until then…Happy Stamping!

Retro Sympathy Card

Hello Stampers!  Today I have another retro card for you. I am finding so many unfinished cards! 🙂

This is another short and sweet post. I used the same flip card as the Confirmation card on May 15. This shows how card bases can be changed. Love those little butterflies.

The sentiment comes from the lovely stamp set Thoughts and Prayers (which is being carried over into the new catalog!).

In my June classes we will be making Sympathy and Get Well Cards. They won’t be retro and I’ll be showing you those mid June.

So, I used retired DSP and the card die but the butterfly punch and die as well as the Thoughts and Prayers Stamp Set are all current.

Be sure to check in on June 2 for a really cool card. Hint: it’s a peek-a-boo card.

Until my next post…Happy Stamping!

Sympathy in Watercolor Pencils

Happy New Year dear stampers!

Today I’m going to show you a sneak peek at a couple of the FREE Sale-A-Bration items and the new Watercolor Pencils. I’m sharing my first attempt at using these awesome pencils. They make water coloring so easy. I want you to see this first card and then on Friday I’ll share my second which I think is much better. It gets much easier and better with practice.

The flowers were done with the Avant-Garden set you can earn as a Free item with Sale-A-Bration.  The envelope and inside were done using another SAB item, Delicate Details.

sympathy-in-watercolor-pencils-1

I had no problems with the shading of the flowers but I do need to work on my background technique.

It is possible to get great depth and shading with the Watercolor Pencils.

There are four borders in the Delicate Details set and they are all lovely. The sentiment is from the Rose Wonder set.

I’m so excited about these pencils. There are several You Tube tutorials on using watercolor pencils but nothing beats trying it yourself and practicing.

Products Used:

Stamp Sets – Avant-Garden (SAB), Delicate Details (SAB), Rose Wonder

Ink – Memento Tuxedo Black, Rich Razzleberry

Paper – Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Watercolor Paper

Accessories – Watercolor Pencils (Occasions), Melon Mambo Ribbon, Aqua Painters

You may have noticed that you can see the covers of the new Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochure but you can’t see the contents…that is because they don’t go “live” until January 4th. On Wednesday you will be able to visit and see both cover to cover. 🙂 But…you will no longer be able to see the Holiday Catalog. 😦

I’m very excited for you to see the new items. I found so many that I MUST have and already pre-ordered (only for demonstrators).

Until Friday when you will see my Swan Lake Watercolor take care and Happy Stamping!

Penned & Painted Sympathy

Hi fellow stampers…here is the last of the three designs for Sympathy we made in my June class. I really like this one because it is so bright and cheery. I know when my dad passed my mom and I really appreciated cheerful cards and letters since we were celebrating his life.

Penned & Painted Sympathy 1

I love this set…but, I’m a great fan of multiple stamping.

Penned & Painted Sympathy 2

I actually had to use a retired embossing folder for the oval and then we did some fussy cutting. So often a retired product is just perfect for a card.

Penned & Painted Sympathy 3

Sorry if the photos are a bit blurred…I’m still perfecting my use of my smart phone for photos. I really want to go back to my Canon camera but I will keep trying to get better photos with my phone.

Here’s the inside sentiment from Better Together with a border from Floral Phrases.

Penned & Painted Sympathy 4

To make this cheery card I used:

Stamp Sets – Penned & Painted, Better Together, Floral Phrases

Ink – Memento Tuxedo Black, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzaz, Old Olive

Paper – Bermuda Bay, Whisper White

Accessories – Textured Impressions Designer Frames (R)

Happy Stamping!

Flourishing Phrases Sympathy

As seems to be my usual these days I’m a little late with my post. OK, a lot late. Here is the second card we made in class – theme was Sympathy.

Flourishing Phrases Sympathy 1

Simple but oh so lovely. Not much to explain…it’s basically what you see. 🙂

Flourishing Phrases Sympathy 3

Sentiment inside…

Flourishing Phrases Sympathy 4

Products Used:

Stamp Set – Flourishing Phrases

Ink – Sweet Sugarplum

Paper – Dapper Denim, Sweet Sugarplum, Whisper White

Accessories – Pearl Basic Jewels, Flourish Thinlits, Project Life Corner Punch, Curvy Corner Trio Punch

This is a fantastic bundle (page 49 in the new catalog) and well worth the purchase. We’ll be using this set again for this month’s class with a Get Well wish. Take another look…it really covers so much. And don’t forget starting today until the end of the month you get a $5 coupon for every $50 you purchase. The coupons can be redeemed in August. For more details check my newsletter and if you haven’t received my newsletter contact me so that I can add you to my list. I’ll send out this week’s newsletter as soon as you contact me.

Rose Garden Sympathy #2

As promised, here is the second card I designed using the Rose Garden Thinlits on Wisteria Wonder.

Rose Garden Sympathy 2a

I must admit that at first I had no idea how I would use this large rose die. I let it simmer in my head for a while and have done a couple different things. This is one and remember this one…

Cottage Greetings Sympathy

Today’s card was much less time consuming than the one above. I adhered each of those colored pieces into the black outline. On today’s card I let the outline and card do the talking. Simple but yet elegant.

Products Used:

Stamp Set – Petite Pairs

Ink – Memento Tuxedo Black

Paper – Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White

Accessories – Rose Garden Thinlits

This card doesn’t need a lot of materials which makes it great for a newcomer to the stamping world. If someone is serious about a hobby of stamping and cardmaking then the Big Shot is a must! Then you can go crazy with dies and of course, stamps.

It won’t be long to wait for a brand new Annual Catalog. Demonstrators are getting a sneak peek and able to order limited preorder items. On June 1, everyone will be able to order from the new catalog. I’ll definitely start sharing with you as soon as I can in mid to late May.

Hope you like my two Wisteria Wonder Sympathy cards. Mother’s Day is next…stay tuned!

Happy Stamping!
