Confirmation Card 1

Hello stampers! It seems spring/summer is such a busy time for card making. I recently participated in our church craft fair and was asked to make Confirmation cards so here is one I made…and it sold!

It’s really not Confirmation color but it turned out really cute and girl’s would like it. I used one of our retired dies, Label Card Thinlit, basically since I had it in my unfinished card stock. 🙂  I told you this was my year for using my “old” stuff.

I did use the stamp set, All God’s Grace, which unfortunately is retiring on May 31. It’s a great set so it will be a keeper.

Short and sweet sentiment. I did pop up the cross and added the dove in the center. I used our White Watercolor Pencil to shade in the dove.

This is also retired DSP but I can’t even remember which pack. You see, I prep a bunch of card kits for my classes (never really knowing how many will sign up) and when I have leftovers I put them in a shoe box to make up later. Ha, ha – great idea but guess what happens…the shoe box just keeps filling up. That is why I’m trying to go through all those shoe boxes and make up the kits. You don’t have this problem, do you?  🙂

Take care, stay healthy and Happy Stamping!

Swan Lake Watercolor

Hello Stampers! Hopefully you’ve all had a chance to view the NEW Occasions Catalog and see what great items you can get for FREE from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. We had a little hiccup on Wednesday when the whole computer system at Stampin’ Up! went down. Fortunately it was up and running shortly. If you haven’t taken a look yet…just go to my side bar and click on the cover page images of each one.

Now, for today…I continue to experiment with my new Watercolor Pencils.

Do you like the beautiful sprig of flowers on the envelope? That stamp is also in this set “Swan Lake”. That would look so lovely in watercolor.

I have to tell you about a funny thing that I did with this card. You may notice that the sentiment  on the front is on a raised piece of watercolor paper. Well, I switched the two sentiments and had originally had “may happiness follow.” on the front! The best thing about making your own cards…you can always make a correction. I showed my husband and he didn’t have a clue that I had made a mistake. He thought those extra pieces were part of the design. Most likely the recipient of this card won’t notice either! 🙂

Just another view with our lemons in the background. The tree is so abundant with lemons we had to tie the tree because the lemons were making it lean.

Here’s a close up of the front detail.

My upline, Peggy Noe, gave me a great suggestion for the watercolor…make the outlines in heat embossed black to prevent any bleeding of the black.

I actually used the white watercolor pencil on the mother swan and I like the way it turned out.

I’m having so much fun with these watercolor pencils! I can’t wait for you to try them out yourself.

Sympathy in Watercolor Pencils

Happy New Year dear stampers!

Today I’m going to show you a sneak peek at a couple of the FREE Sale-A-Bration items and the new Watercolor Pencils. I’m sharing my first attempt at using these awesome pencils. They make water coloring so easy. I want you to see this first card and then on Friday I’ll share my second which I think is much better. It gets much easier and better with practice.

The flowers were done with the Avant-Garden set you can earn as a Free item with Sale-A-Bration.  The envelope and inside were done using another SAB item, Delicate Details.

I had no problems with the shading of the flowers but I do need to work on my background technique.

It is possible to get great depth and shading with the Watercolor Pencils.

There are four borders in the Delicate Details set and they are all lovely. The sentiment is from the Rose Wonder set.

I’m so excited about these pencils. There are several You Tube tutorials on using watercolor pencils but nothing beats trying it yourself and practicing.

You may have noticed that you can see the covers of the new Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochure but you can’t see the contents…that is because they don’t go “live” until January 4th. On Wednesday you will be able to visit and see both cover to cover. 🙂 But…you will no longer be able to see the Holiday Catalog. 😦

I’m very excited for you to see the new items. I found so many that I MUST have and already pre-ordered (only for demonstrators).
