Pop Up Book Birthday Card

Hello Stampers! Today I have a really cool card for you. I was inspired by Dawn Griffith (again). I love cards that are interactive or pop in some way. Dawn must be on the same page and she inspires me so much.

Don’t look at this card and say ” I can’t do that, it looks so difficult.” It may look difficult but it’s really easy! We did this card at my last month’s class and everyone really liked it.

OK, nothing difficult about some dry embossing and die cuts. Now watch…

There’s the WOW! Just the way you cut, score and fold makes this greeting pop out like a book. I’ll first list the products then get into the directions.

Stampin’ Up! Products Used:

Stamp Sets – Butterfly Basics, Special Celebrations

Ink – Night of Navy

Paper – Night of Navy, So Saffron, Whisper White

Accessories – Sparkle Embossing Folder, Stitched Framelits

Now for the measurements:

Base – (Night of Navy) 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″

Front (Night of Navy)  3″ x 3″

Inside (Night of Navy) 2 1/4″ x 2 5/8″….cut 2

Front ( So Saffron) 4″ x 5 1/4″

Inside (So Saffron) 5″ x 8″

Front (Whisper White) 3″ x 3″  Stamp and then die cut with Stitched Square (will be smaller)

Inside (Whisper White) 2″ x 2 1/2″ …cut 2

Directions

  1. Take the inside So Saffron piece that is 5″ x 8″; on the Stampin’ Trimmer on the 5″ side – line up at 1″ then cut between 1″ and 7″, turn to other side and do the same.
  2. Same piece – on the 8″ side  SCORE between the cut lines at 1″ and 1 1/2″
  3. Same piece – now score the top and bottom (above and below the cut lines) at 21/2″
  4. Same piece – score all the way top to bottom at 4″
  5. Now turn and repeat steps 2 and 3
  6. Folding – top and bottom strips fold valley, mountain, valley;  center folds valley, mountain, valley in center, mountain, valley
  7. Adhere the inside center piece 1/4″ inside the edge of the Night of Navy card base…DO NOT TRY TO PUT THE CENTER FOLD INTO THE CENTER FOLD OF THE CARD BASE.
  8. Tip:  Put adhesive on only one side and attach, now fold the center panel up, put adhesive on that center piece and then close the card. This will insure that the card will fold properly with no buckling.

You may have noticed that I also embossed the flap on the envelope. Very easy…just slide the flap inside the embossing folder and fold the envelope closed behind the embossing folder.

This fold can be used for any type card. It really gives a WOW to the card and the recipient will love it.

Please try to make this card and IF I have forgotten anything (hope not) PLEASE contact me ASAP so that I can make a revision.

Until my next post…Happy Stamping!    Donna

Butterfly Basics Anniversary Card

Hello Dear Stampers! My husband and I recently celebrated our 48th Wedding Anniversary so I made this card for him. Once again it’s a CASE from another demo, Sonya Wilkes. I guess I shouldn’t look at all the demo cards because I fall in love with them. What can I say…there’s no need to reinvent the wheel!

Sonya did her card in pinks but I didn’t think my husband would appreciate that so I went with Marina Mist. I also changed the sentiment.

I loved the detail of the different stamps and I always love a butterfly addition.

I really like this inside sentiment and I also wrote my own message below it.

The pearls always add to the body of the butterfly.

Stampin’ Up! Products Used:

Stamp Sets – Butterfly Basics, Timeless Love

Ink – Marina Mist, Crumb Cake, Garden Green

Paper – Marina Mist, Whisper White

Accessories – Butterflies Thinlits, Pearls

Thank you to Sonya Wilkes for the inspiration to make this great card!

Be back soon, until then…Happy Stamping!

Donna

Dragonfly Shadow Card

Hello Stampers! Welcome to a new week. I just had a fantastic time meeting with fellow Stampin’ Up! Demos at our Local On Stage here in San Diego. We started on Friday with Peggy Noe, Linda Foster and I hosting a pre-On Stage Make & Take for the demos in the Mary Fish Pals. We had 20 wonderful ladies attend to make three cards and have some visiting time. Then we all went to a great Mexican restaurant for dinner together. What a wonderful group – a good time was had by all!

This is the card I presented.

See how you get a cool shadow when the card is opened.

This shot really shows the shadow.

This is a better look at how you create the empty space for the shadow box.

View of both front and inside.

This card was a big hit at our Make & Take and I’ll show you another one using different Thinlits on Friday.

It’s difficult to see but both the oval and the dragonfly are popped up with Dimensionals.

There are so many new and exciting things coming up – retired product list and a NEW catalog with great new items. I’ll keep you posted through my Weekly Newsletter so if you haven’t signed up…be sure to do so. Just send me a quick email to let me know you would like to be added to my list. donnamk47@yahoo.com

Until Friday with another version of this exciting Shadow Box Card – Happy Stamping!

Fancy Fold – Dragonfly Dreams

Hello Stampers! I found a different fold and decided to give it a try. I love it! I CASE’d this idea from Susan Levasseur. I think I’ll be making more of these but with some alterations.

dragonfly-dreams-fancy-fold-1

This is what you see as it comes out of the envelope (by the way it fits in a regular medium envelope). This card is a little too heavy so I might just use a black (or color) rather than the white for the card.

This is as you open it. The front piece is decorated on both sides.

This shows the back of the front and the first page. I lightly sponged  Smokey Slate around each white piece to tone down the bright white a bit. I used Dragonfly Dreams throughout along with the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits and Butterfly Basics.

Opened all the way. I love this card. I can see it done with any of our flower sets too. I think the ferns from Butterfly Basics are my favorite for filling space.

Wouldn’t this look lovely on the recipients desk or on a table for display? I won’t part with this one until I make some more. 🙂 This fold is definitely a keeper for me.

Products Used:

Stamp Sets – Dragonfly Dreams, First Sight, Butterfly Basics, Endless Birthday Wishes

Ink – Smokey Slate, Old Olive, Perfect Plum

Paper – Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Black

Accessories – Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits

If you are interested in trying this card out here’s the video:

As you can see, mine is similar but not exactly the same. For one thing…I didn’t have 12 x 12 black paper so I had to use the white as my card base. I have the 12 x 12 black paper now!

Hope you enjoyed this card and will give it a try. I love sharing with you and I hope you find these posts useful.

Until Monday…with another unique fold…Happy Stamping!
