Dragonfly Birthday

Hello Stampers!  Hope you are all staying cool. Today I have a quick look at a really neat card.

This card is so cool.  I have given it to friends and they LOVE it!  See that little opening around the body of the dragonfly…well as you open the card…the wings pop through…

and you have this…

To close…you just pinch the wings together and slide them through the opening.

Very easy and actually pretty quick to make.

Take Whisper White cardstock 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score and fold at 4 1/4″; Basic Black to cut out the die of the dragonfly; any DSP cute at 5 1/4″ x 4″ and another piece 2″ x 4 1/4″

Only adhere the the front piece of DSP then use the Classic Label punch to punch out the opening. You will need to move the punch down a bit more to make the opening big enough for the whole dragonfly. I pushed the punch in all the way from the side so it would be easy to move it down a bit for the second punch.

Once your opening is made close the card to align your inside piece of DSP so that it will be centered under the punch opening you just made and adhere that piece.

Pinch the wings of your dragonfly and glue only the body of the dragonfly to the INSIDE of the card but with the card closed so you can line up the dragonfly with the opening.

Stamp and punch your front sentiment and stamp your inside sentiment. I used dimensionals to “pop” my front sentiment up.

You can use any label type punch for your sentiment and any sentiments you would like. Be creative!

This card is so much fun to make and even more fun for the recipient to receive.

Do try this card and have some fun…until next week…Happy Stamping!     Donna

Twist Gate Fold – Get Well

Hello Stampers,

With the summer vacation and extreme heat we are experiencing it’s been difficult to sit down and prep my posts. But, today here’s a card that is very unique. Warning…it looks smaller than the normal size card but the way it’s made makes it just fit into an envelope.

You can see that the diagonal is just long enough to fit into an envelope. This card is great for using up all that leftover DSP you have sitting around. Just find two complimentary designs and you are all set.

Here it is opening up to find a lovely greeting inside.

I got the idea for this fold from Julie Davison.

It looks complicated but it isn’t really. I used this fold for cards in one of my classes and it was a hit.

Open all the way!

Highland Heather Sympathy

Hello Stampers!  Today’s card features several new items. One of our new colors is Highland Heather…it’s lovely! I’ve also featured two new stamp sets – Painted Glass and Kindness & Compassion.

I know most people don’t like to make Sympathy cards but they are needed at times. I try to make my Sympathy cards a bit cheery and elegant. This card has a lot details that show the recipient you really care.

The die cut along the bottom comes from the new Stained Glass Thinlits. I wove a piece of white satin ribbon through it and the final result is beautiful. The Layered Leaves Embossing Folder gives the background a nice subtle touch of texture. This wonderful font greeting is from the Painted Glass Stamp Set.

This is a beautiful sentiment and the butterflies add a bit of color.

Stamp Sets – Painted Glass, Kindness & Compassion

Ink – Memento Tuxedo Black

Paper – Highland Heather, Whisper White, Black

I  hope you have enjoyed this card and maybe you will try it yourself. Remember in stamping it’s CASE – Copy and Share Everything!

Mediterranean Moments

Hello Stampers! Hope this post finds you all well and enjoying good weather (finally for some of you!). I have been looking at my stamp set “Mediterranean Moments” for quite a while and finally decided to sit down and DO something with it.

I stamped the scene and then used my Stampin’ Blends to color. Oh my…those Stampin’ Blends are AWESOME! Once I finished I could see that this was the perfect card front. I wanted to use up some of my retired colors so I went with a Chocolate Chip card base. Luckily Old Olive is still current so I used it for a second layer then rounded the corners of the scene, added a touch of Old Olive Ribbon and it was complete.

I love the way it came out. I don’t usually use dark colors for my card bases but it just seems to fit here. I also put another piece of Whisper White on the inside with rounded corners.

This will make a great note card. I plan to make sets of these in different colors and give as small gifts.

Stampin’ Up! Products Used:

Stamp Set – Mediterranean Moments

Ink – Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin’ Blends

Paper – Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Old Olive

Accessories – Corner Rounder, Old Olive Ribbon

You really should take a look at this stamp set – especially if you enjoy the water color look. I can’t recommend the Stampin’ Blends enough. It makes the coloring so easy and yet so impressive. The technique with Stampin’ Blends is so relaxing.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my latest creation. I’m trying to take more time to just “play” around rather than always producing card ideas for my classes.

I’m thinking about doing a class with those who already have Stampin’ Blends. We could all work on the technique! For those of you who are close enough to attend a class like this…let me know what you think. Would you be interested?

Until my next post…Happy Stamping!    Donna

Retirement Gift Card Holder

Hello Stampers! It’s the time of year when we need lots of Congratulation cards for graduations, retirements, etc. I never seem to have a Retirement card when I need one so I came up with this one with the inspiration of Julie DiMatteo. I love the format of the card and it can work with any occasion where you’d like to insert a gift card.

Even though the stamp set Wild About Flowers just retired I can’t part with it. It has the best sentiments!

Isn’t that gift card pocket cute? The trick here is to be sure you put your inside sentiment over to the left so that the pocket covers it when closed.

You might recognize that foil DSP – it was a Sale-A-Bration FREE item…I stocked up and got 3 packages of that really neat DSP!

Stampin’ Up! Products Used:

Stamp Set – Wild About Flowers (R)

Ink – Dapper Denim (R)

Paper – Dapper Denim (R), Whisper White, Springtime Foils (SAB)

Accessories – Layering Ovals Framelits, Stitched Shapes Framelits

Im sorry about all the retired products but I had these cards made before June 1st. Keep in mind that any colors or DSP will work!

Here are the dimensions for the card:

Base – 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 2 1/2″ & 5 1/2″    Scraps for Scalloped Oval

DSP – 2 3/4″ x 4″, 2 1/4″ x 4″, 1″ x 4″

Whisper White – 4″ x 5 1/4″    Scraps for sentiment

Definitely try this card out for any occasion…I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how easy and quick it is. Make a few in different colors and leave the front and inside blank until you need a gift card holder greeting.

Take care and Happy Stamping until next time!     Donna

Watercolor Butterfly

Hello Stampers!  Today is the BIG day for the new catalog! You may feel free to order any time now. The catalog is available to you in the right hand bar. Enjoy browsing!

I have one last (maybe last) card using a retired stamp set. I LOVE Watercolor Wings so I’m sure I won’t be parting with this set. I used this card as a demonstration at my upline’s group meeting to demonstrate the versatility of the STAMPARATUS (now available in the new catalog). The gals loved it so much I recently used it in one of my card classes.

The Butterflies Thinlits really add to this card. I also made a template of the butterfly so that we could stamp the leaves behind the butterfly.

I’m not fond of square corners all the time so I did a fancy corner with our retired triple corner punch.

Stampin’ Up! Products used:

Stamp Set – Watercolor Wings

Ink – Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango (R), Memento Tuxedo Black

Paper – Basic Black, Whisper White

Accessories – Butterflies Thinlits, Triple Corner Punch

Hope you enjoyed this card. You can jazz it up any way you like.

Enjoy viewing the new catalog and I’ll see you next Friday with another new card. Until then…Happy Stamping!    Donna

Barn Door Blessings

Hello Stampers! Hope you are all enjoying Spring!  Today I have a card that I made at one of our team meetings. My friend and downline, Evey, presented this card to us. I would never have made it on my own but I love it now that Evey showed us how to do it.

We used the Barn Door Bundle from the Occasions Catalog. Only the bundle is retiring but not the stamp set or dies individually. Seriously consider this stamp set and dies…if you want it, get it while you can still get the 10% discount on the bundle until May 31st.

This card is so neat and also interactive! The barn door actually moves back and forth!

Here’s a close up of the left verse…

Slide the door to the left and you’ll see the verse on the right!

We used little washers to let the door slide…it was easy…as long as I had a guide. The set included the wreath and all parts.

This is a really fun card!

Happy Stamping!     Donna
